Boppa is an open source music player. This page explains what data the app handles and how.
What Boppa collects
Boppa does not require an account and does not collect or transmit personal data to any Boppa server. There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking SDKs in the app.
What Boppa stores on your device
Your library, likes, playlists, queue, search history, and added media sources are stored locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not sent to Boppa or any third party by the app itself.
Media source configs
Boppa fetches its bundled app configuration from cdn.boppa.app. This
request does not include any personal or account information, only a
request for the current config file.
When you add a media source, Boppa also fetches that config from the URL you provide. No personal data is attached to that request either.
Third party websites
Boppa has no built in content catalog. Playback happens through a media source, a config that points Boppa at a specific website and runs inside an embedded web view. When you use a media source, you are interacting with that website directly, including any cookies, logins, or data collection it performs. Those interactions are governed by the third party site's own privacy policy, not Boppa's. Boppa does not control, monitor, or receive data from these sites beyond what is needed to display and play their content.
If a media source requires you to log in, that login happens inside the web view for that source, the same as it would in a regular browser tab. Boppa does not see or store your credentials for third party sites.
Children's privacy
Boppa is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, regardless of age, since it does not collect personal data at all.
Open source
Boppa's source code is public on GitHub, so you can review exactly how the app handles data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
